Design of classes. Inheritance. Polymorphism. Static and dynamic binding. Abstract classes. Exception handling. File I/O. Recursion. Interfaces and inner classes. Graphical user interfaces. Generics. Collections and iterators. Lectures: three hours per week. Tutorial: two hours per week. Laboratory: one hour per week.

• Fundamental programming constructs: variable typing, conditional logic, iterative loops, and modular functions in COMP 249
• Memory models and data representations: arrays, string parsing, reference passing, and scope resolution
• Introduction to algorithmic thinking: linear/binary search, basic sorting algorithms, and recursive problem decomposition
• Software development practices: debugging methodologies, unit test assertions, and structured coding style in Object-Oriented Programming II
